Sounds of waves falling on the shore.
The smell of salty breeze.
Cries of seagulls.
Bright summer sun.
And wet sand.
Wonbeom thinks he’s back home where he lived most of his life and this feeling soothes him after a crazy sleepless night.
Everything started when Prince Yeongpyeong leads the limping and sobbing Court Lady Choi into Wonbeom’s study. With a pounding heart, Wonbeom listens to her story about the attacking robbers, and how the Queen ran away to distract them. Court Lady Choi recalls how she eventually found the main road and called for help, but they didn’t manage to find any trace of the Queen or the robbers. After she has finished, Wonbeom and his brother put on their black combat uniforms and with a few trusted guards, they go in search of the Queen.
They find the attackers in a tavern near the west gates. The fools did not even think to run further away, instead celebrating their victory and spending all their money. Wonbeom detests violence, but time is of the essence and he needs them to start talking. Unfortunately for the robbers, he is brimming with anger, and he likes that they fight back. Or at least try. They give up too fast for his liking, collecting only a couple of broken noses, one broken arm, and probably too many bruises to count.
The robbers tell him how just yesterday, a mysterious man with his face covered paid them a large sum of money to assist in his mission. They were told to scare people off the road, isolate a certain group, and commence the attack. Apparently, the rest of the task was finished by the mysterious man who hired them. But everything went wrong once the remaining guards aggressively fought back and the women ran away into the woods. Their employer still paid them, so the robbers still counted it as a success.
“I have no idea where this rude little bitch…” one of the robbers tries to presumably insult the Queen but doesn’t get the chance to finish his thought. Another broken nose is added to Wonbeom’s count.
Wonbeom’s men take the culprits away. They will live behind bars until he decides what punishment they deserve for attacking the Queen of this country.
“Court Lady Choi said the Queen visits the temple intermittently,” Prince Yeongpyeong reminds him. “They knew exactly when and where to attack. That means…”
“There is a spy in the palace,” Wonbeom finishes his brother’s thought with a grave look on his face.
“What are we going to do, Your Majesty?”
“We’re going back to the palace; we need to come up with a plan.”

This all hit him hard and the more time passes the more worried he will be. But with every angst chapter, we are getting closer to the fluff part of fic 🙂
I’m sorry, we won’t see SY in the next few chapters and have to be patient. It’s WB angst time T_T

I’ve been thinking about for days how the queen could have amnesia, oh, the longing and bitterness creeping into CJ, then there’s a threat of a third wheel to make him more jealous 😌
I don’t know how this will flow, but I’m seeing pain in the next parts 👀

It’s pain for both Soyong and Cheoljong. I wonder where Soyong might be. In my imagination Soyong get help from someone but the helper don’t believe her when she say she is a Queen, and then make Soyong to be a servant. And then she struggle to escape. Anyway, thank you for your update, can’t wait to see what happens next.
